Sunnyside Chamber Lights Holiday Tree On December 1, the Sunnyside Chamber of Commence invited the new Pastor of Queens of Angels, Father Brian Dowd to say the opening prayer for Sunnyside and its residents. On hand to assist with the tree lighting at Sabba Park was organizer VP Lily Gavin and past president Gerry Lederman who, thank goodness was tall enough to reach the light switch. The real Christmas tree, purchased many years ago by the Chamber, was nicely decorated by the children from the Little Friend School. The bigger, brightly lit tree is to help welcome people into our community. Thanks to the lights, we were able to spot many community people who helped brighten our community with their good works. In no order we spotted William Clausman, Marie Konecko, Frances Schmidt, Santa Claus looking strangely like a Ballek, Gert Mc Donald, Eddie Avila, Debbie Markel. Joe Conley, Deidre Feerick, Pam Winters, Ira Greenberg, Becky Barker, William Barrett, Karen McKeon, Rigo Cardoso, Laura Heim, Michael O'Herlihy, Jeffrey Kroessler, Rob and Sherilyn the dynamic duo of the Woodside Herald, band director Tony Lana, Jason Hitter, and the most important people the residents and neighbors of Sunnyside and Woodside, our children. The wonderful Sunnyside Drum Corps gave life to the whole event. Photos/Story by Luke Adams |

The Chamber supported the renewal in 2009 of the charming Art Deco-styled Sunnyside Arch with inestimable backing from our elected officials.
